onward to Reading for the final CLARET

Hi lol.

I will be away to Reading from 27-28 June for the fifth and final CLARET workshop.

I feel honored to be one of the lucky few who have been through CLARET from Liverpool-Nottingham-Lancaster-Birmingham-Reading.

Cohesion in English 作者 Hasan, R& Halliday, M Classic book published in 1976, but still extensively referred to in cohesion studies. A landmark for cohesion research. Absolutely a must read for anyone wanna do discourse.

An Introduction to Functional Grammar 作者 Michael Halliday a must for anyone who wanna do discourse analysis. FG set up a functional approach to view how language functions. It provides systemic functional description regarding English system and structure. Especially useful for discouse semantics.

Patterns of Lexis in Text 作者 Michael Hoey aruges that sentenses in a text are connected by links, which take the forms of verbatim repetition, synonyms, antonym, etc. Three links form a bond. Bonded sentenses provide sensible summary of original text. It is a million copy best seller.

Textual Interaction 作者 Michael Hoey provides a lucid and cogent account of written discourse analysis, arguing text is a site of interaction between writers and readers. It also extensively addresses the culturally popular pattern, problem-solution pattern, with its lexical signals.

Textual Patterns-Key words and corpus analysis in language education 作者 Mike Scott ( who is currently supervising my MA dissertation) provides up to date and enlightening discriptions of how corpus linguistics shape a brand new perspective in English language teaching. It also gives extensive discriptions of his Wordsmith software and research fruits uing concord, keyword and wordlist

Wordsmith suite 作者 Mike Scott perhaps the most sophisticated lexical software available currently, including concord, keyword and wordlist. A must in corpus study
